Reflection from Candace Howes, Posse Mentor
Posse 1, 5th Reunion, June 2018
Five of the nine graduating members of the first Connecticut College Posse attended a reception and celebration of their successes on June 2, 2018, during Reunion weekend. Ronald Artica, Garrett Brown, Marline Johnson, and Milan Saunders made the trek from Chicago and Rasheed Mitchell from California. Missing were Wynndee Reese and Tenzin Palmo (both in California), Ashton Evans in New York and Andrea Lewis (in Chicago and just married).
They were joined by friends, admirers, continuing and former mentors. A brief and joyful program, full of tears and laughter (with Garrett’s fine speech) and many toasts were followed by hours of reminiscing throughout the weekend. Prior to the beginning of the reunion, several Posse scholars gathered at Posse Mentor Candace Howes’ house for dinner, reprising the dinner–without families–that followed their graduation in 2013. These pictures show some of the moments from both the 2018 reunion, a 2013 graduation dinner at Dean Claudia Highbaugh’s, and what they looked like in 2009.
