Junior Recital: Classical and Contemporary Works for Saxophone, Both Solo and Chamber

Emily Verschoor-Kirss's junior recital is the culmination of her third year of undergraduate studies in saxophone performance. The program highlights a wide variety of styles which speaks to the broad musical background she has garnered from her participation in the music department. Classical works include Henri Tomasi's Concerto for Alto Saxophone, Heitor Villa-Lobos' Fantasia for Soprano Saxophone, Paul Hindemith's Konzerstück für Zwei Altsaxophon featuring Joshua Thomas. Contemporary works include Ryo Noda's unaccompanied Improvisation No. 1 and Jacob ter Veldhuis' Buku, for saxophone and boombox. Emily is joined by the Connecticut College saxophone quartet on selections featuring works by numerous classical and contemporary composers.
