At the end of the academic year, The Office of Student Engagement recognizes the contributions and service of student leaders and student organizations. Award recipients are commemorated on plaques hung in the Buttenwieser Leadership & Community Service Floor of the College Center at Crozier-Williams. The awards presented at the ceremony include:
Student Organization Impact Award
Given to the student organization that has demonstrated excellence in leadership, fiscal management and programming efforts. The group receiving this award has sought opportunities to enhance the overall student experience on campus and has been willing to bring new ideas and initiatives to fruition for the benefit of the student body.
Outstanding Program Award
Given annually to honor outstanding programs planned and implemented by student organizations.
Outstanding Collaboration in Programming Award
Recognizes a program sponsored by two or more student organizations who have shown their commitment to successful teamwork and collaboration.
Diversity and Inclusion Award
Diversity and inclusion are important aspects of Connecticut College's mission. This award aims to recognize exceptional efforts made by a student organization to advance a greater understanding of diversity-related issues on campus and beyond. The award is given to a group that has engaged in purposeful, creative efforts to educate others about these issues.
First Year Leadership Award
Given to a first-year student who has become actively engaged in one or more student organizations or leadership programs. The student recipient has sought opportunities to connect with other students, develop their skills and contribute to the College community.
Beverly Lewis ’89 Adviser of the Year Award
Developed to honor one faculty or staff member for outstanding contributions to a student organization through their work as an organization adviser.
Jim Greenleaf '91 Club Sport Award
Given to two individuals (one male and one female) to honor their contributions to the Club Sport program at the College. The award is named for Jim Greenleaf, Class of 1991, a multi-team club sport participant who was respected and admired for his commitment, leadership, sportsmanship and overall excellence both on and off the field of play. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstration of these same qualities.
Outstanding Student Organization Executive Board Member
Given to a student who has offered their organization exemplary leadership.
