Geoffrey Atherton's teaching interests range from beginning German through to senior seminars on the literature and culture of the 18th century as well as courses in English on such topics as Modernism and the city of Berlin and memory.
Atherton received his undergraduate training primarily in Classics and his graduate training in German. His areas of research reflect this interdisciplinary and comparative interest. He has published articles on Winckelmann and Haller and is working on a book-length project on the German reception of Virgil.
