Welcome to the Connecticut College chapter of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) Program.

In 1988, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation launched the MMUF program in recognition of the need to increase the racial diversity of faculty across institutions of higher education. Named in honor of pioneering Civil Rights era activist and intellectual, Dr. Benjamin Elijah Mays, the MMUF program helps institutions identify students early in their undergraduate careers who are considering taking their education to the next level by pursuing graduate level study in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. The program then provides resources and support to help the cohort of students prepare for the graduate school application process and to gain skills in conducting original research.

Connecticut College joined the MMUF family in 2008 and continues to support a thriving program. One of the reasons for our successful partnership with the Mellon Foundation is the commitment we share to advancing the common good through education. At Conn, we strive to create the kind of learning environment where students can pursue their curiosities, develop their intellectual capacities, and ultimately, use their knowledge and skills to make meaningful social change. MMUF students are among the best and brightest in the nation and are sure to make powerful contributions to their fields of study as well as local and global communities.
