Soccer players earn CoSIDA District II Academic All-America honors
Women’s soccer’s Sara Kogelmann ’20 and men’s soccer’s Luke Stoneback ’22 have been named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District II Academic All-Americans.
A senior defender, Kogelmann was chosen for the first team for the third straight season. An economics major and mathematics and finance double minor, Kogelmann serves as an economics tutor on campus and is involved with the Peggotty Investment Club, the Women in Finance Club and the Women in STEM Club. She became the first student-athlete in program history to be recognized as a CoSIDA Academic All-American last season. On the field, Kogelmann has helped anchor a back line which has yielded one goal or less 10 times in 16 matches and blanked five opponents.
Stoneback, who anticipates majoring in biology, is a member of the Presidential Scholars Group on campus. The defender, who was also selected for the first team, has helped anchor a back line which has allowed one goal or less 12 times and shut out nine opponents through 16 matches. Last year, the team recorded the second-best goals against average in the nation.
Both players are now eligible for Academic All-America accolades, which will be announced Dec. 3.
